TO WHOM CAN I BE A NEIGHBOUR? The command to love our neighbour is as broad as our definition of the word ‘neighbour’. Are the people living next door the only ones we consider to be our neighbours? Do we include people in neighbouring streets, towns, or countries, and people of other faiths? Jesus answers these questions by telling the story of the Good Samaritan. As we hear this story we realise that the key question is never, ‘who is my neighbour?’, rather, ‘to whom can I be a neighbour?’
