As we acknowledge Universal Children’s Day this week, we pray that families grow stronger in their love for one another and that children are raised in safe and nurturing environments.
Lord, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.

On this World Day of the Poor, we pray that government and Church agencies will be supported in their efforts to lighten the load of the poor among us.
How do you show your love for your family and friends?
THE STORY
Today’s reading is from a letter written by St Paul to people living in a place called Thessalonia. St Paul wanted to remind the people of God’s love and kindness for them. He urged them to trust that God would protect them and help them to be loving and patient. He also assured the people that God would help them to do and say the right things.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for loving us and keeping us safe. Teach us to do and say the right things as we strive to be patient and loving to others.
God comes as the sun of justice with its healing rays. Let us pray that God’s light will scatter the darkness of those who live in poverty or sickness and those whose lives are broken by violence.
We pray for Pope Francis and the bishops of our Church. May they open their minds and hearts to listen to those whom they serve.
We pray for our own parish community, that we may have the spirit of charity in all our dealings with others, so that your light may shine out in all we do and say.
We pray for our sick relatives and friends and those who care for them. We remember those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries occur at this time. May they rejoice in the blessings of God’s kingdom.
God our Father, you are our strength and our protection. Guide us to love you with heart and soul, mind and strength, and our neighbours as ourselves. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
