Greetings Deacon Dinh,
We are pleased to announce that we are again planning to cross borders and take a group of participants to El Paso, TX with a day visit to Juárez, MX from December 8 - 15, 2021. (Note: Another assessment of the pandemic situation in El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juárez will be made October 15th)
This week-long immersion experience typically includes a celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe and will introduce you to the current realities at the US/Mexican border, as thousands continue to flee to the US to escape violence and poverty in their own countries. You will hear first-hand from immigrants and those who work with them, while also getting input from the Border Patrol. It is an opportunity to listen, discern, and analyze for yourself, through prayer and the Gospel, how God is inviting us to respond to this difficult situation.
This trip is particularly designed for parish and diocesan ministers, but is open to all who are eager to learn and then share the experience with others.
Program includes:
- Pre-trip orientation
- Cultural, economic, and spiritual realities from community and pastoral leaders
- Daily communal prayer, liturgies and theological reflection
- An experience the Church's ministries in El Paso and Ciudad Juarez
- Participation in the celebrations of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
- Post-trip debriefing and reflection
Participant requirements:
- Estimated cost: $925 which includes room, 2 meals per day and transportation. We will begin the trip in El Paso, TX and spend a day in nearby Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Participants are responsible for their travel to and from El Paso, Texas.
- If your application is accepted, you will be asked to make a $100 deposit to hold your spot as this trip fills up fast. Proof of Covid vaccine is required to participate. Because the Covid pandemic is ever-changing, please do not purchase your flight before October 15. If trip must cancel, your deposit will be refunded.
