Experience immersion with Maryknoll
January 25, 2023
11 AM PT | 1 PM CT | 2 PM ET
Maryknoll offers Immersion Trips throughout our mission world. Our trips provide the opportunity to develop relationships and enter into the lives of our brothers and sisters in these areas for a short but meaningful amount of time. Our panelists have participated in immersions to missions as varied as the Kibera area of Nairobi; the southern border between El Paso & Juarez, and the shrines of the martyrs in Central America. Through immersions they have explored the effects of the extraction industries in Appalachia; learned the realities of Native American life in South Dakota, and experienced the challenges of life in Jamaica and ministry in Guatemala.
Join Deacon Denny Davis, a Deacon in South Dakota; Teresa Trout, of the St. Cloud, MN Missions Office and a Maryknoll Seminarian.

Maryknoll Orbis
Book Club
Thursdays starting on January 26 through February 16, 2023
We're so excited to offer another Maryknoll Orbis Book Club each Thursday starting January 26 and running through February 16, 2023. This time we'll explore Black Elk: Colonialism and Lakota Catholicism. This book, which provides a study of Black Elk, the Oglala Lakota subject of the bestselling Black Elk Speaks, challenges the assumptions of many scholars--both those who claim that Black Elk was a Lakota holy man first and foremost and those who maintain that he abandoned his Lakota tradition after converting to Catholicism. The virtual book club promises to be a wonderful opportunity to acquire a better understanding and appreciation of the deep faith and rich spirituality of our Native American indigenous brothers and sisters.
