    Dear Deacon Dinh,

Shaming and judging are often our first reactions when we notice wrongdoing. Jesus, however, shows us another way. When confronted with a woman caught in adultery, he sees beyond her mistake. In the bigger picture, we are all broken and in need of acceptance and healing. By stepping back and looking through the eyes of compassion and empathy, healing and reconciliation are made possible.

    Prayer

Gentle God, when we are faced with the temptation to judge others, help us to not project our own brokenness on others. Give us the courage and wisdom to step back from our initial reaction and center ourselves in your love. Allow us the grace to see with your eyes of compassion and empathy.
