This past Sunday, the Church encouraged us to rejoice. And there is good reason for our joy—we're halfway to Christmas! This past Sunday, we reflected on the joy-filled words of Isaiah: "The desert and the parched land will exult; the steppe will rejoice and bloom. They will bloom with abundant flowers, and rejoice with joyful song." (Isaiah 35:2)

One of the ways we express our joy is through song. Advent’s hymns especially provide an opportunity for us to enrich our experience of the season.

    REJOICING WITH THE CHURCH

Why does the Church choose to rejoice so enthusiastically this third week of Advent? Because our joy flows from Christ, from the promise that he is truly the Messiah.

Fr. Patrick Mary Briscoe, OP, exhorts us through this Advent meditation to lean into the joy that the Church feels and provides a practice for us this week to share this joy with others.

SHARE YOUR JOY WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

    I'M JOYFUL IN THE MOUNTAINS

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati used to tell his friends how much he loved to feel “that pure joy which can only be felt in the mountains.” He loved that there was a place he could go for peace and time with God. In I’m Joyful in the Mountains, young readers will meet this amazing young man and feel encouraged to connect with God through experiences that bring joy!
