    Lord, young people and older people fear unemployment.

    Work is so important for our own personal satisfaction,

    for development and for building a future.

    Bless all those who cannot find a job;

    help them not to be too depressed with ‘knock backs’.

    May the government, Lord, do all in its power to help the unemployed.

    How easy it is to be thankful when things go my way!

    How easy it is to be kind and helpful when not much is asked of me.

    How easy it is to love someone who loves me in return.

    How hard it is to be thankful for the courage to try again when I fail!

    How hard it is to be kind when words and actions hurt me.

    How hard it is to love someone who is unlike me.

    God, give me strength.

    “For all people who were ignorant of God were foolish by nature; and they were unable from the good things that are seen to know the one who the one who exists, nor did they recognize the artisan while paying heel to his works”.

    God, I am sorry for worshipping materialistic objects instead of focussing on you.

    I am sorry for forgetting that through you, only, can I experience true joy.

    Please God, help me focus on you, the creator of all things.

    Help me to recognize you in my everyday life.

    Dear God,

    On this first day of a new week, thank you for everything you have given us.

    Thank you for our families and friends who care so much about us.

    Please lead us in the right direction in all that we do.

    Help us get over every burden we come to along our path in life.

    Allow us to be the best person we can be.

    “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for  your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope”

    (Jeremiah 29: 11)

Help us to overcome what separates us and to embrace Christ who binds us together. Build us into living bridges that accomplish your work of reconciliation in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
