                                    VIRTUE - I AM GOD 

    MORNING PRAYER (Wednesday 28th October 2020)

    Teaching About Virtue

    Jesus, my Saviour and friend,

    my lesson today is about living a Christian life.

    I’m supposed to talk about virtues

    and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

    But how can I teach about things

    I find so difficult to practise myself?

    What can I say about love, patience,

    kindness, wisdom and compassion,

    when I myself am sometimes unkind,

    impatient, foolish and judgmental?

    Help me, please to rely on you, to let you speak through me.

    May your children see and hear, not just me, but you.

    May they experience your presence in all that I say and do.

    Be with me, Jesus, in all I say and do.

    Amen.

    Confessing our Need

    Our God, humble child, creative, ever-encouraging spirit.

    We confess our need for forgiveness, our need for the ability to forgive others, our need to live graciously.

    We confess our need for hope,

    our need for ability to let go of hurts of the past,

    the fears of the future.

    We confess our need for community,

    our need for solitude,

    our need for family,

    our need for individuality.

    Ever present spirit, reminder of grace, hear our prayer.

    Amen.

    MORNING PRAYER (Monday 26th October 2020)

    Dear God,

    As the sweet breath of dawn escapes across the land and the first rays of the sun’s light kiss the earth, help me to appreciate the beauty of this budding morning. Help me to see the glorious beauty that exists in everyone and everything.

    This is creation, and it is deserving of my love. There is a singular peace and beauty about each day, a singular magnificence with the rise of the sun each morning. Every sun is a new sun, and all the light streaming from it, shedding its warmth is new light on a new day. With each new day, new sun, new light, there is also a new me. I grow and change with the passing of the sun. And in its new light each day I am baptized again in the beauty and love of God and God’s earth

    O God, who chose the apostles to make disciples of all nations, and who by Baptism and Confirmation has called us to build up your Holy Church, we implore you to choose from among us, your children, many priests and religious who will love you with their whole hearts and will gladly spend their lives to make you better known and loved by all.
