               OUR FATHER - PRAYER OF THE       LORD IN LATIN

    MORNING PRAYER (Wednesday 5/06/2019)

    Today we continue the theme of the end of Easter and preparation for Pentecost, the birth of the Christian Church. When Jesus was with his disciples he talked about God, his Father. We are told that Jesus prayed often and called God ‘Abba’, which is our equivalent of ‘Daddy’ or ‘Dad’, so he obviously felt close to him.

    Prayer requires time and a quiet space where we can block out the noises and distractions of everyday life.

    Let us now take time out of our day to pray as Jesus taught us, by saying the Our Father together.

    All:   Our Father…

                      RETURN OF THE LORD

    MORNING PRAYER (Tueday 4/06/2019)

    A REFLECTION

    THE LORD WILL RETURN. The Ascension of Jesus, whereby he is glorified at the Father’s right hand and made ‘ruler of everything’, does not signal his departure from our midst. It points rather to a new mode of presence that will endure ‘until the end of the world.’ In the meantime, it is our vocation, as his Church, to reveal him.

    MORNING PRAYER (Friday 31/05/2019)

    Dear Lord,

    In a world full of passing desires, fads and empty promises, may we yearn and hunger for the spiritual and thirst for the truth.

    Amen.

                     THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

    MORNING PRAYER (Monday 03/06/2019)

    Yesterday we celebrated The Ascension of the Lord. Luke tells us that whilst Jesus was blessing his disciples “He withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they were continually in the temple blessing God.” As we await Pentecost Sunday let us remember that when Jesus was carried up to heaven he did not leave us alone. We are always, every moment of every day, blessed and filled with the joy of his presence.

               May The Words of My Mouth

    MORNING PRAYER (Wednesday 29/05/2019)

    When I say, “I am Christian”,

    I’m not claiming to be perfect;

    My flaws are to visible

    But God believes I’m worth it.

    When I say, “I am Christian”,

    I’m not trying to be strong;

    I’m professing that I’m weak

    And pray for the strength to carry on.

    When I say, “I am Christian”,

    I do not wish to judge;

    I have no authority

    I only know I am loved.

    In Your time, Lord,

    Take the imperfect that is within me

    and create the person I could be

    Amen.
